Edward Gilman Sr., sawyer, was originally born in Caston, and moved to Hingham. He emigrated to America along with fellow villagers of Hingham. Gilman Sr. was the ancestor of Nicholas Gilman (1755 – 1814), New Hampshire delegate to the Continental Congress and signer of the US Constitution.
