Admiral Lord Nelson

Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson (1758 – 1805), famous for his service in the Royal Navy, particularly during the Napoleonic Wars, was reputedly born in Burnham Rectory.  He attended Paston Grammar School in North Walsham, and King Edward VI Grammar School in Norwich (now Norwich School).

Nelson joined the Navy through the influence of his Royal Navy officer uncle, Maurice Suckling.  He led the San Juan Expedition and Fall of Grand Turk in the American War of Independence.
