Flood Memorial

The memorial, located in Esplanade Gardens, lists the names of the 31 people who died in the east coast floods of 1953. Sixteen of the victims were resident US Air Force servicemen and their families.

Hunstanton Civic Society Heritage Trails and Heritage Plaque Walk leaflets are available from the Tourist Information Office.

    I was there the night of the 1953 flood. I was eight years old and fortunately not affected. We were part of the American military at the time and lost several friends. Greeting to the wonderful people of Hunstanton!!
