The Pettus Family

Rackheath Hall was the home of Sir John Pettus (1550 – 1613), one of the few men to be sheriff both of Norwich and of Norfolk. In 1612, he became member of the London Company which held the Third Charter for the colony of Virginia.

Another family member, Colonel Thomas Pettus, went to Virginia in 1638, and become a Governor’s councillor.
