Henry Dow III

Henry Dow III (1634 – 1707), New Hampshire soldier and statesman, was born in Ormesby. His father, Henry, migrated with his family to Watertown in the colony of Massachusetts Bay in 1637, and was there admitted freeman on 2 May 1638. He moved to Hampton in 1644.

Although not formally educated, Dow Jr. became an important and financially prosperous figure in the town of Hampton and the province of New Hampshire, becoming Speaker of the Lower House of Legislature and later Treasurer of New Hampshire.
