Location of Melton Constable Hall, the core of which is Elizabethan, once the home of actress Madeleine Carroll, who starred in Hitchcock’s The 39 Steps, and her first husband, army officer Philip Astley, whose family owned the Hall. The Grade I listed Hall is on the English Heritage at Risk Register.
