East Raynham

Raynham Hall was the home of Charles Townshend (1725 –1767), whose introduction of taxes (known as the ‘Townshend duties’) on the American Colonies was one of the factors which led to the American Revolution.  St Mary’s Church, East Raynham, has various memorials to the Townshend family.
